Maundy Thursday

We get a glimpse at how Jesus spent his last night with his friends. We hear about the Passover lamb, Jesus’ last meal with his disciples before his death, and Jesus washing his disciples’ feet. We share in the spirit of this night with handwashing and Holy Communion. Finally we strip the chancel bare, to ready ourselves for Good Friday. Both locations will offer the same worship service.

There are two options to worship:

  • 4 pm at Holy Trinity Lutheran located at 4275 Lincoln Way W, Massillon
  • 7 pm at St. Jacob Lutheran located at 8697 Mudbrook St NW, Massillon

Good Friday

Life and death stand side by side as we enter into Good Friday. We gather in solemn devotion, but always with the promise that the tree around which we assemble is indeed a tree of life. We depart silently, and we anticipate the culmination of Easter.

There are two options to worship:

  • 12 pm at St. Marys located at 206 Cherry Rd. NE, Massillon. This Stations of the Cross service is held with different Christian traditions. This service uses images and prayer to help us contemplate Jesus's life from his condemnation to his burial
  • 7 pm joint Lutheran service at St. Paul's located at 127 Cherry Rd, NE, Massillon. Pastors Tina Crog (St. Jacob) and Ash Welch (Christ Lutheran) will preside. Pastor Mark Kreemer (St. Paul's) will preach. Pastor Tina offering special music.
